Peter Kuehl is a Chicago-based photographer who has combined his passion for photography with his love of music.
Peter caught the photo bug early. He was especially attracted to taking photos of his favorite musicians. He constantly tried to find new ways to smuggle his camera into music venues throughout the Chicago area (some of these ways really shouldn't be revisited here, especially the Kiss show at the Chicago Amphitheatre. Yikes!). But he knew this is what he wanted to do.
As he reached his teen years, for some unknown reason, Peter found himself intoxicated by the allure of Hollywood. Must have been all of those John Hughes movies. But after wasting four years in film school, and almost twice as many years after that (okay, it wasn't a complete waste. He did get a few cool shorts and a featurette out of it), Peter returned to his original calling. He went into his closet, dusted off the camera, and started to perfect his craft.
Nowadays Peter doesn't have to sneak around with his camera. Musicians are actually calling him. They know that he will be able to come up with the perfect image for whatever their needs may be.
Whether he's fighting for position at the foot of a stage, or setting up in the studio for a more formal portrait, Peter's goal is the same: to capture "the sights, sounds and smells of rock and roll."
